Fast Call

Posted @ 11:05 am

Taking a look at the speed with which a poker opponent bets can tell you a lot about what an opponent is holding. Normally, when a poker opponent makes a decisive action like raising, you can make some kind of judgment on his hand, and when he folds, you don’t need to consider his part in the hand anymore. Things get a bit more complicated when they call. Most of the time, a call is a sign of weakness, but assuming that your opponent isn’t trapping you with a check-raise can get you into trouble. When you’re trying to read a check, take the speed with which they do so into consideration. If you raise a poker online opponent and he calls your bet quickly, they may often be on a drawing hand. Think of it this way-if your opponent has already made his hand, he’d have to think about raising before deciding to call. It goes the other way as well-if your opponent has absolute garbage, he’ll stop and think about folding before he calls. If, on the other hand, he’s just eager to see another card, it’s very likely that he’s just going to call your bet without any hesitation and hope his card comes up.
